Charles Allan Barnard born on 7 January 1934 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas to Ina Eutychus Gattis (b.12 Jun 1897 Atwell, Callahan County, Texas-d.19 Feb 1982 Denton, Denton County, Texas) Age 37 and George Madison Barnard (b.12 Mar 1894 Leon Junction, Coryell County, Texas-d. 23 Aug 1983 Callahan County, Texas) Age 40.

1935 living in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas. 1940 census Age 6 living with his parents, six sisters and three brothers in JP1 Jones County, Texas. His family moved into Callahan County in 1944. 1950 census Age 16 living with his parents, two sisters and two brothers in Callahan County, Texas and attending school. He graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1951. He attended Abilene Christian College for two years. He enlisted in the Naval Aviation Cadet program at Dallas, Texas in August 1955. He took basic training in Pensacola, Florida and was stationed for a while in Kingsville, Texas. He returned to Pensacola and was then assigned to the Naval Base in Cuba in the summer of 1956. After his scheduled discharge on 18 August 1958, he had planned to get married.     

Lieutenant (junior grade) Charles Allen Barnard O-606813 US Navy Reserve. He was a naval airman stationed in Cuba and was killed in a plane crash at sea on 17 January 1958 . No details of the crash or the location were given to his parents by Navy officials. His body was not recovered. A memorial service for LTjg Charles Barnard was conducted in Cross Plains, Texas at the Church of Christ on Tuesday 21 January 1958. His father ordered a VA Marker for his son in November 1973 to be placed in the Cross Plains Memorial Park, Cross Plains, Callahan County, Texas as a memorial. .

Horace H. Jenkins born on 7 Mar 1918 Hico, Hamilton County, Texas to Sophrona Gaines (b. 28 Aug 1888 Arkansas - d. 5 Mar 1932 Comanche County, Texas) Age 30 and Richard Henry Jenkins (b. 25 Jan 1886 Brown County, Texas - d. 19 Jan 1951 Ranger, Eastland County, Texas) Age 32.

1920 Census Age 9 months living with his parents and five siblings in JP6, Comanche County, Texas. 1930 Census Age 11 living with his parents and five siblings in JP5, Comanche County, Texas. He was residing in Eastland County, Texas and enlisted in the US Army Calvary on 30 Jan 1940 and private Jenkins asn-6955210 was sent to Fort Ringgold in Starr County, Texas. 1940 census, on 4 April, Age 22 living with Troop F 12th Calvary Barracks in Starr County, Texas.    

Private Horace H. Jenkins 6955210 US Army Troop F 12th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Ringgold in Starr County, Texas. Private Jenkins was a passenger in a car that struck a bridge railing and plunged into the creek below. Horace was killed. The accident happened on 1 Nov 1940 about five miles south of Burnet, Texas. His body was recovered and sent to Gorman, Eastland County, Texas. Military graveside services were held in Oakland Cemetery, Duster, Comanche County, Texas. .
